Active Shooter Response

Course Description: Skills and tactics specific to surviving an active shooter incident. Class will include lecture, live fire, combatives, and force on force scenarios.

Topics: Communication and evacuation planning, facility security assessment, unarmed and improvised weapon skills, armed movement in structures, precision handgun shooting, medical response, scenario simulation.

Prerequisites: Required: CHL/LTC. Preferred: Completion of DPS-1 or similar training.

Required Equipment: Clothing suitable for force-on-force training (long sleeved shirts, long pants, athletic shoes). Mouthpiece and cup.

Optional Equipment: An Airsoft gas blowback gun that matches your own carry gun. See the general policies page for suggestions on food, drink, clothing, etc.

Additional information: This course integrates many skills taught in more detail in other courses It is suitable for students that have not taken in-depth courses in all the topics, but is not a substitute for the longer courses. The goal is to provide students an overview of the tasks to be performed before, during and after an active shooter incident, with skills practice and a full context scenario.
