Course Description: The in-person training required for those taking the classroom portion of the Texas License To Carry course online.
This course is part of the core curriculum of the 40 hour Defensive Pistol Skills Program.
Topics: handgun use and safety, use of restraint holsters for open carry, live-fire shooting test.
Cost: $40 (at the A-Zone Range). Add to any live fire pistol course for $20.
For prices and upcoming course dates, check the schedule page.
Length: one hour
Prerequisites: previous handgun shooting experience, or Basic Pistol 2 or equivalent.
Students with no prior shooting experience, or who believe themselves incapable of passing the shooting test without coaching should NOT attend KR Training LTC/CHL classes without first completing a Basic Pistol course. Students are expected to have the skill to pass the LTC shooting test on the first try. Students failing the shooting test may be asked to reshoot after the course has completed or return for remedial firearms instruction prior to reshooting the LTC test.
Not sure whether your skills are good enough to take the LTC course?
This article can help you determine if taking Basic Pistol 2 prior to LTC is appropriate.
Our Basic Pistol 2 class is a great pre-LTC skills tune up course, particularly for those with no prior formal handgun training. It provides an opportunity to practice the different parts of the LTC shooting test, improve your shooting, learn the safe gun handling standards expected by most formal training programs, and more!
