2016 Paul T. Martin Preparedness Conference

The Fourth Annual Preparedness Conference builds upon the successes of previous conferences and offers more presentations on advanced and timely topics.  Some changes from last year’s conference include:

Registration
Admission fee is $50.  To register, click on the KR Training registration page.  Once you’ve completed the registration form, you must then click on the “Pay for Classes” link.  Until you have paid for the event, you do not have a reservation.


Lunch
We highly recommend you consider bringing your own lunch.  Please note we will not have access to a microwave or other means to warm food.  Cabela’s does have a cafeteria with a range of food choices.


Facilities
Take Exit 220 on Interstate 35.  Cabela’s is located on the west side of the interstate.  The conference room is located on the second level in the rear of the building. 
We will have tables at this year’s conference, so please feel free to bring notepads and electronic devices.  There are a limited number of electrical outlets for recharging.  Cabela’s does not offer wifi

10:00 AM – 10:05 AM      Welcome and Announcements

10:05 AM – 10:35 AM      Jack Jania of Gemalto on eFraud Prevention Strategies.  Given the increasing news stories of cyber attacks and fraud, it’s imperative to have a strategy to mitigate the risk.  Jack Jania will share some ideas preppers can implement.

10:35 AM – 11:05 AM        Karl Rehn of KR Training on Open Carry.  Open Carry is coming to Texas!  Karl Rehn will be discussing risks and equipment unique to open carry (retention holsters), legal updates, tactical situations specific to open carry, and recommended training for those that choose to open carry.

11:05 AM – 12:05 PM      Lunch (We strongly recommend that you BYO.)

12:05 PM – 1:05 PM           John Daub of Hsoi Enterprises on Preparing for the Aftermath of a Self Defense Incident.  Self-defense incidents involve far more than just the moment of the incident itself; there's an aftermath of legal, social, and emotional issues. John Daub will be discussing these issues and how to prepare yourself to handle the aftermath of a self-defense incident.

1:05 PM – 1:20 PM           Break

1:20 PM – 1:50 PM           Paul Martin on In Case of Death. Death is a high frequency, high severity event.  Are you and your family ready for it?

1:50 PM - 2:20 PM           Paul Martin on PWT: Prepared While Traveling.  Traveling long distances presents unique preparedness challenges.  Paul will discuss lessons learned and strategies developed as a frequent business traveler.

2:20 PM – 3:20 PM           Allen Codding, DVM on Pet Preparedness Strategies.  Pet preparedness is becoming a popular topic in preparedness groups.  Dr. Codding will provide guidance on creating and maintaining a preparedness plan for your pets.

3:20 PM – 3:35 PM           Break

3:35 PM – 4:35 PM             Suzanne Tolbert of Seashore Properties and Paul Martin on Building a Disaster Resistant Home.  Suzanne and Paul will discuss lessons they’ve learned in building disaster resistant homes in the wildland-urban interface (WUI) of Austin, on the beach in Port Aransas, and in their recovery efforts after the Wimberley Floods.  At the end of this presentation, Suzanne will hold a drawing for one lucky attendee to receive a free weekend at their hurricane resistant Sea’s The View beach house in Port Aransas.

4:35 PM – 5:00 PM             Clifford Cheadle of Third Coast Thermal, LLC will speak on Take Back the Night – Night Visions Options for Preppers. 

5:00 PM – 5:30 PM           Paul Martin on What We Need To Be Doing The Next 90 Days.
