KR TRAINING SEPTEMBER 2010 NEWS

ADVANCED TRAINING 4 THIS SATURDAY

If you've taken Defensive Pistol 1, you can take AT-4. You don't have to have taken any other AT level courses to attend.
If you compete in IPSC or IDPA and want to get better at "shooting on the move", AT-4 is an excellent choice.

Advanced Training 4 - Sept 11, 2a-6p Teaches shooting on the move, multiple targets at varying ranges and angles, many other skills. This will be the last AT-4 for 2010.

HOME DEFENSE TACTICS NEXT WEDNESDAY

Our Home Defense Tactics course is a GREAT class for couples and armed friends to attend. This class covers skills and tactics for handling intruders in the home, including how to direct and coordinate the actions of unarmed family members. $60, 3 hours.

Advanced Training 2A Home Defense Tactics Sept 15, 7-10p. Offered in a student's home in South Austin. Learn how to do a security assessment of your home and practice building search and low light handgun skills using red guns in a real residence.

TRAINING BY REQUEST: SEPTEMBER 18th

AT-2, originally scheduled for Sept 18th, has been postponed until later this fall. If there is interest in any of our half-day live fire courses (Defensive Pistol 1 or 2, Competition Pistol, AT-3, AT-4, AT-6), I will offer a live fire course on September 18. Email me with your requests - the most popular class will get added to the schedule! Voting ends Monday, Sept 13. I will announce the results via the website and the KR Training Facebook page.

AUSTIN MURDER RATE UP 38%

(from KLBJ 590) The City of Austin's murder rate continues to be higher this summer than the previous year.  While year-to-date crime statistics show a decrease in amount of overall violent crime, Austin’s murder rate is up by over 38%.  The Austin police department’s Shelia Hargis says a large amount of those homicide are closely related to another crime. “One thing that seems to increasing this year versus in the past is the city’s robbery-related homicides” says Hargis. The latest Austin crime report also shows a 14-percent decrease in overall robberies, which points out even the small number of robberies here in Austin are now escalating to murder.

(Karl comments) Just another reminder that your gun is no good to you locked up at home or stowed in your car. Find a way to carry your gun with you everywhere you can.

TSRA Legislative Goals for next session

#1 To allow Texans to have their legally owned firearms and ammunition in their personal locked vehicles on their employer's parking lot and to protect law abiding employees from termination for this legal possession.  This is the 3rd legislative session for this project.

#2 Stop all anti-gun legislation; adversely impacting sport shooting, hunting, firearms and ammunition ownership and possession, or concealed handgun licensees.

#3 To allow adult University and College faculty and students with concealed handgun licenses access to campus locations currently prohibited by Texas law.   This legislative project began in 2007 with the Virginia Tech tragedy.  TSRA is working with Students for Concealed Carry on Campus.

#4 To help streamline and simplify the concealed handgun licensing process.

If you have a CHL and you are not a Texas State Rifle Association member, you should join. TSRA is the most effective lobbying organization gun owners in Texas have. They are working hard to expand and improve our state level gun rights. Most of the firearms freedoms we enjoy are defined at the state level.
