We will be adding more classes in the Jan-March time frame. We are still working out some details. We will continue to offer monthly CHL new permit and renewal classes. Those dates will be announced soon.

Defensive Long Gun can be taken with any shotgun, any rifle or any pistol caliber carbine. It covers the defensive use of a long gun, and the pros and cons of each type of long gun. The drills in the course duplicate realistic situations in which a long gun might be used. Loaner guns are available by prior arrangement.

As part of the Airsoft Force on Force instructor class, instructor trainees will run a 'mini course' where they will run students through the scenarios designed during the instructor course. The instructor trainees will need some "real students" to practice on, so a limited number of slots will be available for this 1/2 day, low cost training session that will be similar to AT-2.

THE ELECTION AND FUTURE OF OUR GUN RIGHTS
The election is over and President-elect Obama has published his agenda for his first term on his new website http://www.change.gov. Under "urban policy" his first 4 gun control measures have been listed. The NRA's analysis of Obama's anti-gun agenda provides additional details of what we can expect, based on Obama's long history of voting for gun control measures and funding gun control groups. A renewed assault weapons ban is the measure most likely to affect you, as it will ban your standard capacity (more than 10 rounds) handgun magazines and common semiautomatic rifles and shotguns used for home defense and competition. .

BECOME AN NRA INSTRUCTOR
We are offering our NRA instructor course at a deep discount because we believe that the future of our gun rights depends on creating more new shooters and new gun owners - particularly reaching out to the next generation. If you are unhappy with the outcome of the election and want to do something productive, get certified as an NRA instructor, and make a commitment to take 10 people that have never shot a gun before to the range in 2009 to learn firsthand that the reality of guns is very different from the exaggerated, distorted information they get from TV, movies and videogames. Each instructor trainee gets all required NRA lesson plans and other teaching materials included in the course tuition.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BOY SCOUT SHOOTING INSTRUCTORS
Every year we get requests from Boy Scout leaders for NRA instructor training, because the Scouting program requires that all shooting merit badge activities be run by NRA certified instructors. Last year thanks to some generous donors we were able to offset the cost of NRA instructor training for several local Scout leaders. This year we've cut our costs for the NRA course as low as we can to provide that discount as "matching funds" for all students in our NRA instructor course. We are accepting donations again this year (any amount) that we can use to create scholarships we can provide to Scout leaders to help them pay for the remaining costs for NRA instructor training.

CENTRAL TEXAS TRAINING GROUP - PAUL GOMEZ CLASSES
The Central Texas Training Group is an informal group that includes graduates of KR Training advanced-level courses. They hold occasional training sessions and host traveling instructors. Paul Gomez (who teaches for Shivworks and Tac-Pro) will be offering two courses at a private range near Bastrop on Saturday, Nov 22. The courses are a fundraiser to raise money to purchase training props for the club. The morning session is from 8-12 and covers defensive pistol skills; the afternoon session runs from 12:30-5pm and covers the AK-47. There are a few loaner AK's available by prior arrangement. Cost for either 1/2 day course is $100. Both for $150. Contact Jason Johnson at johnsonjd1@sbcglobal.net to enroll.

UPCOMING GIGS
I'll be playing with UnderCover this Friday night at La Fuente in South Austin near William Cannon and South Congress. The guys in UnderCover (except for me) are all current or retired Austin PD cops, including two SWAT team members. Band plays from 7 pm until around 11. I've also updated my music website (karlrehnmusic.com). Lots of free download MP3s from recent live jazz shows in College Station featuring guest musicians from Houston and Austin.

Karl, Penny and the KR Training crew
